Sarfaraz Khan has replaced Sai Sudharsan in India’s squad for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka after the left-handed batter was ruled out with a right toe stress reaction.

The BCCI confirmed the change on Sunday. Sudharsan has been completing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and has made progress, but the board said he has not fully recovered. The BCCI Medical Team continues to monitor his rehabilitation.

The Times of India report said Sarfaraz and Shaik Rasheed were considered as replacement options before the selectors chose the Mumbai batter.

Sarfaraz adds another middle-order option

Sarfaraz joins the squad with six Test appearances for India, having scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10 with three half-centuries.
