Shubman Gill missed the opening day of India’s three-day warm-up match against an SLC XI in Colombo after sustaining an impact injury to his right ring finger during practice on Thursday. KL Rahul led India in Gill’s absence as the SLC XI reached 363 for 8 from 90 overs.
Gill monitored after right ring finger injury
Gill remained out of the field as a precaution, with the BCCI Medical Team monitoring the India captain’s recovery. The team did not confirm whether the injury would affect Gill’s availability beyond the opening day of the warm-up fixture.
The report from Colombo said Gill sustained the injury during India’s practice session before the match at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground.

India rotate wicketkeepers and leave Nabi unused
India shared wicketkeeping duties between Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel, with Pant starting behind the stumps before Jurel took over later in the day. Jurel had initially fielded in a close catching position.
Auqib Nabi, who joined the group as a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah, did not bowl on Day 1 and remained on drinks duty alongside support staff and net bowlers. India did not confirm what Nabi’s non-use meant for selection in the upcoming fixtures.
