England batter Jordan Cox says he and Virat Kohli were photographed without their knowledge during a private meeting at a London cafe. Cox met his Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammate before making his England Test debut at The Oval.

Cox said hundreds of people walked past without interrupting the pair, but photographs from the meeting appeared online about two hours later. Kohli then contacted Cox to ask whether he had seen the images, according to a Times of India report.

Cox describes Kohli’s lack of privacy

Cox expressed disappointment that Kohli could be followed and photographed while trying to spend time away from cricket. “The upsetting thing for him is that people are following him without him knowing,” Cox told The Guardian, as quoted in the report.

The England batter said Kohli wanted to keep a low profile and enjoy a normal life, but public attention often made that difficult. Cox described the episode as “just a shame” because of the number of people seeking access to the former India captain.

Kohli’s support during the IPL

Cox also praised Kohli for the time and guidance he provided during their stint together at Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Cox said the senior batter regularly helped teammates despite having his own preparation to manage.

“Some guys focus on their own game, but he is someone who always wants to help others before he helps himself,” Cox said. The England batter described that approach as rare among players with Kohli’s level of experience and achievement.

India’s upcoming white-ball schedule

The source report said Kohli was set to return to international cricket when India begin a three-match ODI series against England on July 14. The ODI series was scheduled to follow the ongoing T20I series between the teams.

India, captained by Shreyas Iyer, trailed the five-match T20I series 3-0 before the final match in Southampton. England, led by Harry Brook, had already secured the series and were seeking a 4-0 result in the concluding game.
