India’s team management is expected to wait for Jasprit Bumrah to resume bowling before deciding his availability for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins in Galle on August 15.

The BCCI medical team is understood to have briefed the selectors about Bumrah’s condition, treatment and recovery period. The report says Bumrah was advised to receive an injection for a knee-related issue that had flared up during the closing stages of the T20 World Cup, followed by eight to 10 days of rest.

Bumrah reported to the Centre of Excellence after that rest period ended. His response to bowling at full intensity is expected to give the team management a clearer indication of whether he can take part in the Test series.
