New Five-Member Selection Panel Composition
The updated BCCI Men’s Selection Committee comprises Pragyan Ojha as chairperson, alongside Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra and Ramesh Powar. Ojha takes the chair on seniority, determined by the number of Test matches played. The former left-arm spinner represented India in 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and six T20Is. His Test experience puts him ahead of the other current panel members under the BCCI’s seniority criterion.
Ojha joined the selection committee at the BCCI’s 94th Annual General Meeting in September 2025 alongside former India pacer RP Singh. He becomes chairperson after just over a year on the panel.
Ramesh Powar Added After CAC Interviews
The Cricket Advisory Committee interviewed candidates at the BCCI headquarters before unanimously recommending Powar’s appointment. Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape formed the CAC that evaluated candidates for the vacancy.
Powar brings international playing and coaching experience to the committee. The former off-spinner represented India in two Tests and 31 ODIs. Powar previously served as head coach of the India women’s team, Mumbai and Gujarat. He also worked as bowling coach at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. During his tenure with the India women’s team, Powar guided the side to an Asia Cup title and a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Ajit Agarkar Tenure Concludes After ICC Titles
Ajit Agarkar completed his tenure as chairman on October 4, 2026 after deciding not to seek an extension. He was originally appointed to the role in July 2023.
During Agarkar’s stint as chairman, India won the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups and the 2025 Champions Trophy. The Indian team also claimed two Asia Cup titles and back-to-back Asian Games gold medals under the selection committee he led. The BCCI acknowledged Agarkar’s commitment and contribution, crediting the selection committee with overseeing a successful period for Indian cricket.
