Former India bowler Mohit Sharma is set to join Chennai Super Kings as bowling coach from the next IPL season. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the planned appointment and said head coach Zaheer Khan had recommended Sharma for the role.
Viswanathan also said CSK expects to recruit more support staff on Zaheer’s recommendations in the coming weeks, according to the Times of India report. The report does not identify the other candidates under consideration.
Sharma will replace Eric Simmons
Mohit Sharma is expected to replace Eric Simmons as CSK’s bowling coach. The appointment would bring Sharma back to a franchise he represented across two playing stints spanning four seasons.
Sharma produced his best IPL season with CSK in 2014, when he took 23 wickets and won the Purple Cap. He later played for Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals.

Mohit Sharma brings extensive IPL experience
Mohit Sharma finished his IPL playing career with 134 wickets from 120 matches. The Haryana seamer took 41 wickets across two seasons with Gujarat Titans, where his variations and accuracy helped him become a regular wicket-taking option.
Sharma also represented India in 26 ODIs and eight T20Is, taking 31 ODI wickets and six T20I wickets. He was part of India’s 2015 World Cup campaign under MS Dhoni and later announced his retirement from professional cricket.
