Deepti Sharma became the third Indian cricketer to play 150 women’s T20 internationals when India faced Thailand in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 Group A opener in Dubai on Sunday.

Deepti’s highest Asia Cup score was 64 against the United Arab Emirates in 2022. Her best tournament bowling figures were 3 for 7 against Thailand in the same edition.

Deepti finished as the leading wicket-taker in the previous two editions. The India all-rounder took 13 wickets in 2022, finishing ahead of Sri Lanka’s Inoka Ranaweera, who also claimed 13 wickets, through a better economy rate and bowling average. Pratika Rawal receives maiden T20I cap

Pratika Rawal made her T20I debut against Thailand after receiving her cap from Harmanpreet Kaur. India added Rawal to the squad after Jemimah Rodrigues was ruled out of the Asia Cup and the upcoming Asian Games with a right hamstring injury.

Harmanpreet confirmed Rawal’s debut before the match and outlined India’s approach to the tournament. Harmanpreet said, “Today Pratika is making her debut because Jemi is not there. Playing good cricket is what we want to do. We have spoken about being ruthless and this is an important tournament for us.”

India entered the competition after losing nine of its previous 16 T20Is in 2026. Thailand captain Thipatcha Putthawong won the toss and chose to field, with Thailand aiming to restrict India to no more than 170.
