India have recalled Ravindra Jadeja to the ODI squad for the West Indies series, retained Rohit Sharma and selected Dhruv Jurel ahead of Rishabh Pant for the second wicketkeeper position.

The men’s senior selection committee also announced India’s T20I squad for the West Indies fixtures and the updated group for the Japan T20I and Asian Games. The committee named Rishabh Pant as captain of the Rest of India squad for next month’s Irani Cup.

Asian Games overlap shapes ODI selection

The overlap between the West Indies ODIs and the Asian Games led the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee to give Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir their maiden call-ups while bringing Ravindra Jadeja back into the ODI group.

Mohammed Siraj heads the ODI pace department, with Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar also selected. Naman Dhir provides an all-round option.

According to the Times of India report, the team management wants to increase Reddy’s ODI game time and develop another seam-bowling option while Hardik Pandya awaits clearance from the CoE.

Rohit Sharma retained as Jurel takes second keeper spot

Rohit Sharma keeps his ODI place after scoring a century in the third ODI against England at Lord’s, while Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included as the reserve opener.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to occupy the No. 4 position left open by Shreyas Iyer, who will captain the T20I side in Japan. Shubman Gill will lead the ODI team, with KL Rahul named vice-captain.
