RCB posted a formidable total of 221-5, thanks to a stellar batting display led by Virat Kohli, who scored a brisk 67 runs. Captain Rajat Patidar complemented Kohli’s effort with a solid 64 runs. The innings was further bolstered by an explosive unbeaten 40 off just 19 balls from Jitesh Sharma, propelling RCB to a challenging total.
On the bowling front, Mumbai’s Jasprit Bumrah, returning from injury, was the standout performer, conceding only 29 runs in his four overs and maintaining an impressive economy rate below 10 runs per over. Despite his efforts, Mumbai’s chase faltered after a promising start.
Mumbai’s innings saw a glimmer of hope with a rapid 89-run partnership off just 34 balls between captain Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma. However, the collapse of this partnership within four balls in the closing stages dashed their hopes. Krunal Pandya then sealed the victory for RCB by claiming three crucial wickets in the final over.
This victory not only marked RCB’s first win at Wankhede since 2015 but also their third win in four games this season, showcasing their resurgence. Earlier in the season, RCB had ended a 17-year drought against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, thrashing them by 50 runs on March 28, their first win at Chepauk since 2008.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians continue to struggle, suffering their fourth loss in five matches this season, highlighting the challenges they face in turning their campaign around.
