Thailand & UAE Triumph in ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier!

Thailand and UAE Secure Victories in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier

In the recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier matches, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) registered comprehensive victories over Uganda and the Netherlands respectively. These wins, held at Tolerance Oval and Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, keep both teams in contention for the tournament’s semi-finals.

Thailand outplayed Uganda by nine wickets at Tolerance Oval, while UAE dominated the Netherlands with a resounding 10-wicket victory under the floodlights of Zayed Cricket Stadium.

The winning teams’ bowlers were the stars of the show, dismantling their opponents’ batting line-ups with impressive pace and spin bowling. UAE’s openers also shone, with a thrilling chase led by captain Esha Oza’s unbeaten 66.

Uganda vs Thailand

Thailand’s bowlers justified captain Naruemol Chaiwai’s decision to field first, delivering a stunning bowling performance that decimated the Uganda batting line-up. Uganda could only manage a total of 62 runs before being bowled out.

Thailand chased down the target with ease, led by seasoned batter Natthakan Chantham’s unbeaten 34 off 43 balls. This performance earned her the Player of the Match award.

With this win, Thailand has one win and one loss, while Uganda has lost two out of their three matches, their only win coming against UAE.

Netherlands vs UAE

The Netherlands’ decision to bat first proved costly as UAE’s bowlers tore through their batting line-up. The Netherlands were reduced to 49 for four and despite a brief recovery, they finished their 20 overs at a disappointing 101 for nine.

UAE’s openers started their chase aggressively, with captain Oza leading the way with a brilliant 66 off 39 deliveries. Her opening partner, Theertha Satish, provided excellent support with an unbeaten 36 off 33 balls.

This significant win keeps UAE’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals from Group B alive. The Netherlands, who defeated Vanuatu in their opening match, will need to perform exceptionally against Zimbabwe and Ireland to stay in contention.
