India beat Afghanistan by nine wickets in Chennai on Saturday to complete a 3-0 sweep in the ODI series, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten 110 and Prasidh Krishna taking 5 for 23.

India chased 219 with little pressure after Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma added 170 for the opening wicket. Rohit made 79, while Jaiswal reached his hundred in 83 balls and finished the match with a six as India reached 224 for one in 28.4 overs.

The result followed a strong new-ball spell from Prasidh, who removed Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah and Darwish Rasooli as Afghanistan slipped to 36 for four inside the first 10 overs. The Times of India match report said the five-wicket haul was Prasidh’s career-best ODI return.

India’s chase was settled by a 170-run opening stand

Jaiswal and Rohit gave India control of the chase after Afghanistan were bowled out for 218. Rohit began watchfully before attacking Afghanistan’s bowlers, including Rashid Khan, and Jaiswal stayed fluent throughout the innings.

Afghanistan also received a five-run penalty after Shahidi repeatedly stepped into the danger area of the pitch during the innings.
