Gill encouraged a switch to leather-ball cricket
Shubman Gill encouraged Kirandeep Singh to leave tennis-ball cricket after watching the youngster bowl in Mohali in 2025. Kirandeep, who comes from Cholta Kalan in Punjab’s Mohali district, later bowled to Gill for the first time at the Mullanpur International Cricket Stadium.
Kirandeep recalled that Gill praised his bowling before learning that the youngster played tennis-ball cricket. Gill then told Kirandeep, “You shouldn’t play tennis-ball cricket anymore. From now on, you have to play with a leather ball.” Kirandeep also said Gill offered help if the young bowler needed support.
