ICC Announces Comprehensive Broadcast Plans for Men’s T20 World Cup 2024
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled its extensive broadcast plans for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament, set to be the largest ICC World Cup to date with 20 teams competing across nine host locations, promises to bring fans closer to the action than ever before.
The cricketing extravaganza begins on 1 June, with co-hosts USA facing off against Canada in Dallas. The grand finale is scheduled for 29 June in Barbados.
Through its direct broadcast partnerships with top-tier broadcasters worldwide, the ICC aims to deliver exceptional coverage of all 55 matches, promising a cricket carnival like no other.
In India, the Star Sports Network and Disney + Hotstar will provide comprehensive coverage as India vies for its first Men’s T20 World Cup trophy since the event’s inception in 2007. Star Sports will broadcast the tournament in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, while Disney+ Hotstar will live stream each match.
The Star Network has introduced an innovative Indian Sign Language Feed, offering a first-of-its-kind audio descriptive commentary for an ICC event, thereby increasing the accessibility of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The successful vertical feed, first introduced for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup last year, will continue to provide fans with a mobile-friendly viewing experience for all 55 matches. This feed, produced by ICC TV and supported by Disney Star, will now feature AI-powered enhancements designed to engage casual fans with an intuitive viewing experience optimized for mobile devices.
WillowTV will broadcast the first ever T20 World Cup in the USA for fans in the US and Canada, with additional coverage available via the Willow by Cricbuzz app. Fans in the Caribbean can tune into ESPN Caribbean on TV or stream the action through the ESPN Play Caribbean app.
Defending champions England will aim to retain their title, with live coverage available in the UK on Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Action, and digitally via SkyGO, NOW, and the Sky Sports App.
Australian fans can catch all the action on Amazon’s Prime Video, the new home of ICC Cricket in Australia. In New Zealand, Sky Sport NZ remains the go-to broadcaster for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches.
Supporters in South Africa, Uganda, and Namibia can watch live via SuperSport and its app, available across South Africa and 52 Sub-Saharan Africa territories.
In the UAE and the entire MENA region, matches will be live streamed on STARZPLAY, with broadcast coverage available on CricLife MAX and CricLife MAX2 in the UAE.
Pakistani fans can tune into PTV and Ten Sports, or stream the matches through the Myco and Tamasha apps. In Bangladesh, Nagorik TV will broadcast on linear TV, with Toffee streaming the entire tournament on their app and website.
Maharaja TV in Sri Lanka will continue their ICC event coverage through TV1, Sirasa, Shakti TV on linear and their website on digital. For the first time, Sri Lankan fans can enjoy Sinhalese commentary for Sri Lanka matches via Maharaja TV, or through the ICC TV app.
In a strategic move to support the growth of the game, the ICC will broadcast the Men’s T20 World Cup free via the ICC.tv app to over 80 territories including Continental Europe and South East Asia. This initiative will allow more fans in these markets to enjoy the sport, while establishing icc.tv as a cricket destination. ICC produced programming and highlights will also be available to viewers.
Fans across multiple territories will now be able to enjoy the coverage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Hindi. Apart from India, the Hindi feed will be available in the UK via Sky Sports (India matches + semis and finals), Willow TV in the US and Canada (47 matches), and Prime Video in Australia (4 matches).
