Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shatters Kieron Pollard’s T20 Record With 100th Six in IPL 2026
Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi established a new global benchmark in T20 cricket on Saturday, becoming the youngest and fastest player to hit 100 career sixes in the format. The 15-year-old reached the milestone during an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against the Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Sooryavanshi achieved the 100-six mark in just 514 deliveries, eclipsing the previous world record held by West Indies powerhouse Kieron Pollard, who required 843 balls to reach the same figure. The teenager also secured the record for the youngest cricketer to hit 100 maximums before turning 20.
Record-Breaking Innings Against Gujarat Titans
Chasing a massive target of 230, Sooryavanshi opened his account by launching Mohammed Siraj over long-on for six on the first delivery he faced. The left-handed batter maintained an aggressive strike rate, compiling 36 runs from 16 balls.
- Runs: 36
- Balls Faced: 16
- Boundaries: 3 Fours, 3 Sixes
- Strike Rate: 225.00
The battle between the rookie opener and the veteran fast bowler ended in the powerplay. Siraj delivered a 146.6 kph short ball that resulted in a mistimed pull shot, safely caught by Arshad Khan. Siraj’s aggressive celebration highlighted the perceived threat of the young Rajasthan batter.

Match Context and Gujarat Titans’ Dominance
Despite Sooryavanshi’s historic individual achievement, the Rajasthan Royals faced a steep run chase. The Gujarat Titans posted a formidable 229 for 4 in their 20 overs, driven by high-scoring partnerships from captain Shubman Gill and top-order batter Sai Sudharsan.
Sooryavanshi holds a strong track record against the Gujarat franchise. During the previous IPL season, he registered a 35-ball century against the same bowling attack. While his 36-run cameo in Jaipur kept Rajasthan slightly ahead of the required run rate early in the innings, the 230-run target ultimately proved challenging for the middle order following his dismissal.
