Kane Williamson (New Zealand)

Playing a crucial role in New Zealand’s historic Test series victory over South Africa, Kane Williamson proved his mettle. The seasoned Kiwi cricketer scored two centuries in the first Test in Mount Maunganui, followed by an unbeaten 133 in Hamilton, leading his team to a series win.

Marking his first time scoring two centuries in a single Test match, Williamson’s performance propelled New Zealand to the second position in the ICC World Test Championship table by the end of February, with three victories in five Tests.

Kane Williamson Breaks Records with Match-Winning Century

In Hamilton, Williamson showcased his best performance, leading his team to a 2-0 series victory against South Africa. With a score of 133*, including 12 fours and two sixes, he orchestrated the fourth-highest successful chase in New Zealand’s history and the fifth-highest overall. This also marked his 32nd Test century, the highest among active players, and set a new record for the quickest to reach 32 Test centuries by innings, surpassing Steve Smith’s record of 174 innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (India)

Yashasvi Jaiswal, with two consecutive double centuries in February, is a strong contender for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month. His performance against England, scoring 2019 in Vizag in the first innings of the second Test and a second innings double century in the following Test in Rajkot, helped India secure a series lead.

Jaiswal’s performance played a significant role in India’s comeback after a loss in the first Test of the series. The left-handed opener also topped the leading run-scorer list in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

Jaiswal broke several records in February, equalling the long-standing Test record for most sixes in a Test innings (12) during his Rajkot knock. At 22 years and 49 days, he became the third youngest batter to record two double centuries in Tests, following Sir Donald Bradman and Vinod Kambli. Jaiswal ended February with an impressive 560 runs at an average of 112, including 20 sixes, in the three Tests he played.

Pathum Nissanka (Sri Lanka)

Pathum Nissanka, after scoring the first-ever double century in ODIs by a Sri Lankan, is a top contender for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2024. The 25-year-old scored an unbeaten 210 off just 139 balls against Afghanistan in Pallekele, followed by another century (118 off 101 balls).

Nissanka surpassed Sanath Jayasuriya’s 24-year-old record for the highest score by a Sri Lankan in ODIs, previously set at 189 against India in Sharjah in 2000. Nissanka scored 110 runs in the last 18 overs, reaching his double century in just 48 balls after his century, with 20 fours and eight sixes.

Carrying his form into the T20Is, Nissanka scored 25 off 11 to give a strong start in the second T20I against Afghanistan and then hit 60 off just 30 balls to initiate a run-chase of 210. However, he retired hurt with the score on 83/2, and Sri Lanka ended up losing by three runs.
