In the ongoing five-match series, New Zealand’s Mark Chapman and Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi have made significant strides in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, thanks to their Player of the Match performances. The series is currently tied at 1-1 after three matches.

Chapman, a left-handed batter, scored an unbeaten 87 off 42 balls in the third match, propelling him 12 places up to the 33rd position in the latest weekly update. Shaheen, a left-arm fast bowler, took three wickets for 13 runs in the second match, moving him up two places to the 17th position.

Tim Seifert, a wicketkeeper-batter from New Zealand, has also climbed in the rankings, moving from 27th to 24th position. Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has advanced from 23rd to 18th position.

In other news, Dipendra Singh Airee has become the fourth Nepalese player to break into the top 50 of the Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. He achieved this feat after scoring an unbeaten 44 against Hong Kong in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s Premier Cup.

The other Nepalese players to have reached the top 50 are Kushal Bhurtel (27th in March 2022), Paras Khadka (42nd in September 2019), and Rohit Paudel (45th in March 2024).

Airee’s 11th position in the all-rounders’ rankings is a record for Nepal, surpassing Kaushal Malla’s previous best of 25th position.

Following their performances in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup, Hong Kong’s Anshuman Rath (up seven places to 70th), the United Arab Emirates’ Alishan Sharafu (up 29 places to 88th) among batters, and Nepal’s Sompal Kami (up 16 places to 92nd) among bowlers, have also made progress in the rankings.
