Tom Blundell, the wicket-keeper/batter, and all-rounder Zak Foulkes have been drafted into the squad as replacements for Finn Allen and Adam Milne, both of whom have been ruled out for the entire series.

Allen is dealing with a back injury, while Milne sustained an ankle injury during training prior to the team’s departure. The timeline for their respective recoveries remains uncertain.

Match Highlights: Pakistan triumphed over New Zealand by seven wickets, securing their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final.

Foulkes is joining the New Zealand camp for the first time, while Blundell offers additional flexibility both at the top of the order and behind the stumps.

Coach Gary Stead expressed sympathy for Allen and Milne, whose injuries came at an unfortunate time. However, he also sees this as an opportunity for the incoming players.

“We feel for both Finn (Allen) and Adam (Milne), who suffered injuries just before the tour began. They have been key contributors in the T20 format since the last World Cup,” he said.

“Tom (Blundell) is a seasoned player whose wicket-keeping and batting skills, as well as leadership qualities, make him a valuable asset to any team. His recent experience in Pakistan, where he participated in two tours last year, will also be beneficial.”

“Zak has had a standout season with Canterbury, leading the team in wickets taken across all three competitions. He has shown remarkable skills with the ball, especially in T20 cricket for the Kings. We also recognize his batting abilities and believe this is a great opportunity for him to be part of the group.”

The team is currently traveling to Pakistan, with the first three T20Is scheduled in Rawalpindi and the final two in Lahore.
