India to Embark on Bangladesh Tour for Five-Match T20I Series

The Indian cricket team is set to tour Bangladesh for a five-match T20I series, commencing on April 28. The series, which includes three day-night matches, will be hosted in Sylhet.

According to the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings, India currently holds the third position, while Bangladesh is ranked ninth. The upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh later this year, adds significance to this series.

This series is expected to provide both teams with valuable preparation for the forthcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will kick off in Bangladesh in September.

While Bangladesh aims to exploit their home ground advantage, India is also looking to use their familiarity with the conditions to their benefit.

India, currently ranked third in the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings, qualified for this year’s T20 World Cup after finishing as one of the top six teams in the last edition of the tournament in 2023 in South Africa. Bangladesh, on the other hand, secured direct qualification as the host nation.

India’s last tour to Bangladesh took place in July 2023, featuring three T20Is and three ICC Women’s Championship ODIs. While India clinched the T20I series 2-1, the ODI series saw a dramatic shift in momentum.
