CSK Batter Ayush Mhatre Ruled Out for Two Months with Dual Injuries

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ayush Mhatre faces an extended period on the sidelines after sustaining dual injuries. Medical assessments confirmed the 18-year-old top-order batter suffered a severe left hamstring strain and a separate wrist injury, ruling him out of competitive cricket for eight to twelve weeks.

The Mumbai-born cricketer sustained the hamstring injury while batting during Chennai’s Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18. Subsequent scans revealed the additional wrist complication, forcing a premature end to his breakthrough IPL campaign.

Impact on Chennai Super Kings

Mhatre provided an aggressive spark at the top of the order for CSK before his injury. Before his early exit against Hyderabad, the teenager had established himself as a reliable boundary-hitter in the powerplay.

CSK batting coach Mike Hussey confirmed the severity of the situation. “It looks bad, unfortunately,” Hussey stated following the medical evaluation. “He is going to be a big loss because he has been in really nice touch for us.”

The official Chennai Super Kings management noted in a formal statement that Mhatre’s rehabilitation period will require a minimum of six to twelve weeks.

Absence from the T20 Mumbai League

The extended rehabilitation timeline means Mhatre will also miss the upcoming edition of the T20 Mumbai League scheduled for June. The local tournament serves as a premium platform for Mumbai’s domestic cricket talent.

Mhatre was recently retained by the Triumph Knights, where he was slated to play alongside Indian T20 International captain Suryakumar Yadav. His absence creates a top-order void for the franchise ahead of the summer tournament.
