Najmul Hossain Shanto Appointed as Bangladesh’s Limited-Overs Captain

Najmul Hossain Shanto is set to lead a robust Bangladesh squad in the upcoming six limited-overs home matches against Sri Lanka. The team for the initial two ODIs and the three T20Is of the series has been unveiled.

Shakib Al Hasan, still recuperating from a retinal issue identified last month, will not be part of the squads.

Notably, Tamim Iqbal, who was a significant omission from the BCB’s central contract list for 2024, is also absent from both squads.

Former Bangladesh Captain Excluded from Central Contract List

Shoriful Islam, who secured an all-format contract for the year, is included in both squads. Several other players who performed well in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 also feature in the teams.

Aliss Al Islam, an uncapped off-spinner, has been named in the T20I squad.
