ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy Tour Reaches Midway Point at Nassau County International Stadium

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy Tour has made its first iconic sporting stadium stop at the Nassau County International Stadium, marking the halfway point of the stadium’s construction.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, two-time Men’s T20 World Cup champion Chris Gayle, and USA men’s player Ali Khan attended a New York-inspired ceremony at the stadium site, celebrating the trophy’s arrival in grand style.

Significant progress has been made on the stadium, with the East Stand infrastructure complete and the spectator seating installation ongoing. The West Stand development began on 1 March and is progressing rapidly. The North and South premium hospitality and media pavilions have reached the second level of the planned four-level complexes, shaping the oval.

The world-class playing field in Nassau County continues to develop on schedule. The cricket ground’s drop-in pitches, maturing to ICC standards in South Florida under the supervision of the Adelaide Oval’s Damian Hough, are set to complete their 14,000-mile journey from Adelaide to New York for installation in early May.

In 75 days, the cricket world’s attention will shift to Nassau County, New York, as it hosts Sri Lanka against South Africa. This event marks the start of a nine-day T20 World Cup cricket festival, with eight matches scheduled between 3 and 12 June. The venue will host one of cricket’s biggest rivalries, India against Pakistan, on Sunday, 9 June, as an ICC World Cup comes to USA shores for the first time.

Following an overwhelming demand of more than 3 million ticket applications in the public ballot, additional tickets have been released for 51 of the 55 matches. This includes fixtures where allocations were previously exhausted, ensuring maximum fan attendance. Fans can secure their World Cup experience at tickets.t20worldcup.com.

After the Trophy Tour’s launch with a light-up ceremony at the Empire State Building, the Trophy will visit Penn Station in Manhattan. Fans can take their picture with the silverware before it heads to Texas, embarking on a whistle-stop tour of the USA’s iconic sporting teams and landmarks.
