Bangladesh Cricket Duo Ascend in Latest ICC Rankings

Two seasoned players from Bangladesh have seen a significant rise in their rankings following their impressive performance against Zimbabwe in the recent ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.

The Bangladeshi team has clinched the first three matches of their five-match home series against Zimbabwe, largely due to their strong bowling performance.

Four of the top six wicket-takers in the series are from Bangladesh, with seamer Taskin Ahmed and spinner Mahedi Hasan showing promising form ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Taskin has claimed six wickets at an impressive average of 8.83 in three matches against Zimbabwe, catapulting him six places up to 26th in the T20I bowler rankings, a career-best for him.

Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s fast bowler, has evolved from a promising debutant to a reliable leader of the bowling attack at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Mahedi has also climbed six places in the same list, with the 29-year-old spinner moving up to a joint 22nd place after taking three wickets in two matches against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe’s right-arm fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has also been performing well, moving up five places to 69th in the T20I bowlers list, thanks to his four wickets against Bangladesh.

Young right-handed batsman Towhid Hridoy is the leading run-scorer in the first three matches of the series in Bangladesh. The 23-year-old has moved up from outside the top 100 to joint 90th place in the T20I batter rankings, thanks to his 127 runs and two unbeaten innings against Zimbabwe.

Veteran Bangladeshi batter Mahmudullah has moved up two places to joint 81st in the same list, while India’s Suryakumar Yadav continues to lead the T20I batter rankings.
