Amy Hunter: ICC Women’s Player of the Month for January 2024

Record-Breaking Performance by Ireland’s Amy Hunter

January 2024 witnessed a remarkable performance in women’s cricket. Amy Hunter of Ireland outshone her competitors, including Australia’s Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney, to claim the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award.

At just 18 years and 107 days old, Hunter became the youngest player in the history of cricket, across both genders, to score a century in both ODI and T20I formats. This achievement was marked by her extraordinary 101* in the inaugural match of Ireland’s T20I series against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Despite a slow start to the month with scores of 36*, 21, and 1 in three ODIs against Zimbabwe, Hunter’s performance escalated in the three-match T20I series against the same team. Her record-breaking century led Ireland to a commanding 57-run victory in the series opener.

Following her record-breaking performance, Hunter continued to impress with scores of 77* and 42, contributing significantly to Ireland’s series sweep. Her total of 220 runs in the T20I series earned her the well-deserved Player of the Series award.
