Mohammed Shami Shatters Stumps in LSG Nets as Justin Langer Calls Yorkers ‘Breathtaking’

Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach Bharat Arun stood close to the stumps during a recent training session and handed the ball to veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami. The Indian international proceeded to dismantle the stumps with a series of aggressive yorkers, signaling his readiness for the upcoming Indian Premier League season.

Following a lengthy injury rehabilitation program, the 34-year-old demonstrated high pace and accuracy. He hit the base of the stumps repeatedly, generating immediate praise from the franchise’s coaching staff.

Justin Langer and Bharat Arun Praise Shami

Following the intense net session, Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer singled out the fast bowler during the team huddle. “Your yorker… that yorker… is breathtaking,” Langer stated in footage released by the franchise.

Bharat Arun, who previously shaped the Indian national team pace battery, expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with Shami. Shami played a central role in India’s overseas Test successes under Arun’s guidance.

“Shami and I share a special bond, and we have been together in the Indian team for seven years,” Arun explained. “Working with Shami, I know what he brings to the table. He is probably one of the best bowlers in world cricket today. It is very exciting for me to be working with him again.”

LSG Pace Attack and Workload Management

The Lucknow franchise has assembled a heavy-duty fast-bowling unit for the tournament. With several players returning from injury layoffs, management organized a pre-season camp a month before the main squad assembled to assess physical conditioning.

Arun detailed the franchise’s approach to player fitness: “Managing the fast-bowling workload is not only my job; it is three of us together—the physiotherapist, the strength and conditioning expert, and myself.”
