BCCI Responds to Tragic Stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium: ‘Shocking Lapses in Security’

This could have been avoided with meticulous planning.’
Saikia also highlighted the BCCI’s commitment to ensuring safety at future events, drawing comparisons to successful crowd management during the IPL finals at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium—where over 120,000 spectators were accommodated without incident—and the T20 World Cup victory parade in Mumbai. ‘We have a dedicated team that collaborates with local authorities to prioritize spectator safety. During the Mumbai parade, elaborate arrangements ensured no mishaps,’ he noted. With celebrations reportedly continuing in parts of Bengaluru, Saikia urged for heightened vigilance to prevent further tragedies.
