BCB Initiates Talks with BCCI to Finalize Bilateral Cricket Tours
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally contacted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reinforce bilateral cricket relations and outline upcoming tour schedules. The communication focuses on finalizing an upcoming white-ball series in Bangladesh and expanding reciprocal tours between the two nations.
Nazmul Abedin Fahim, BCB Director of Cricket Operations, confirmed the outreach. He noted that maintaining an open dialogue with international cricket boards is standard practice for managing the international calendar.
“We maintain regular communication with various countries’ cricket boards,” Fahim stated. “As part of that regular communication, we recently reached out to the BCCI via a letter to coordinate our upcoming schedules.”
Proposed Series and Reciprocal Tours
The primary focus of the correspondence is a scheduled series for the Indian men’s national team in Bangladesh. The BCB expects India to travel for a six-match white-ball tour in September. Additionally, the proposal includes plans for the Bangladesh women’s national team to tour India shortly after.
| Tour Element | Details |
|---|---|
| Visiting Team | India Men’s National Cricket Team |

| Match Formats | 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is |
| Target Window | September |
Strategic Bilateral Cooperation
The relationship between the BCCI and BCB remains a primary driver of cricket development in South Asia. Following recent political changes in Bangladesh, sports administration requires coordinated diplomatic and operational planning to fulfill commitments under the International Cricket Council (ICC) guidelines and the officially structured Future Tours Programme.
- Scheduling Adjustments: The men’s series was originally discussed for an earlier window but required realignment due to regional security and logistical challenges.
- Women’s Cricket: Reciprocal tours for the women’s teams indicate an increased focus on cross-border competition beyond the men’s senior squad.
- Ongoing Dialogue: The final itinerary awaits approval from the BCCI, pending venue readiness and security assessments.
Finalizing this schedule will provide certainty for broadcasters, players, and logistics teams. Both boards are expected to release a confirmed match itinerary once the operational details are secured.
