Vaibhav Suryavanshi Eyes IPL 2025 Trophy With Rajasthan Royals
Thirteen-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history during the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. Acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.10 crore, the Bihar-born cricketer is focused on bringing a second championship to the franchise under the guidance of head coach Rahul Dravid.
Suryavanshi gained international recognition in October 2024 by scoring a 62-ball century for the India Under-19 team against Australia U-19 in Chennai. Speaking on the sidelines of the BCCI Naman Awards, the left-handed batter outlined his primary ambition for the upcoming professional season.
“The goal this IPL season is to win the trophy for the team, as it is a very important thing,” Suryavanshi stated. “I want to do well, and my performance will help the whole team. This is my goal: to contribute to RR’s wins.”
Scouting and Domestic Emergence
Making his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar at just 12 years old, Suryavanshi immediately drew the attention of professional scouts. He credited the Rajasthan Royals’ talent identification program for tracking his progress and facilitating his transition to the franchise environment.
“When I made my domestic debut, RR had been keeping an eye on me during my domestic and Under-19 games,” he explained. “Their scouting team had been keeping an eye on me for a long time. I felt that I could go to RR because my trial with them had gone very well. I am happy to be with RR, as I have improved a lot too in my life while playing for them.”
Developing Under Rahul Dravid
Integration into a top-tier franchise requires significant adjustment for a teenage athlete. For Suryavanshi, attending the initial Rajasthan Royals camp provided an immediate opportunity to train directly with former Indian captain Rahul Dravid and experienced international players.
“For any youngster, the first IPL camp is always interesting and it was the same for me,” Suryavanshi noted. “Rahul sir was there at that time, so I got to learn a lot from him. There were a lot of senior players in the team, and I had a good learning experience from them during the first camp.”
Player Profile and Milestones
According to data from ESPNcricinfo, Suryavanshi has rapidly accelerated through the Indian domestic cricket structure.
