Alyssa Healy Smashes 158 in ODI Farewell as Australia Completes 3-0 Sweep Over India

MUMBAI – Australian captain Alyssa Healy delivered a masterclass in her final One Day International, scoring a blistering 158 to guide Australia to a 185-run victory over India on Sunday. The win secured a 3-0 series sweep for the visitors, who posted a monumental 409 for seven before dismissing the hosts for 224.

The 35-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, playing her 126th and final ODI, anchored the innings with her eighth century in the format. She announced she will retire from international cricket following the one-off pink-ball Test against India in Perth, scheduled for March 6.

Record-Breaking Partnership Sets the Tone

After being asked to bat, Australia faced an early setback with the loss of Phoebe Litchfield (14). However, Healy and Georgia Voll (62 off 52 balls) stabilized the innings with a 134-run stand for the second wicket. Voll attacked the bowling with seven fours and a six, shifting the momentum firmly to Australia.

Following Voll’s dismissal, Healy combined with Beth Mooney for a destructive 145-run partnership. Healy’s 158 came off just 98 balls, featuring 27 fours and two sixes. Mooney remained unbeaten on 106, her innings punctuated by 10 boundaries and a six. Late cameos from Annabel Sutherland (23) and Nicola Carey (34 off 15) propelled Australia past the 400-run mark.

India’s Bowling Struggles

The Indian bowling attack struggled to contain the flow of runs on a batting-friendly surface. Sneh Rana returned figures of 2/66, while Shree Charani claimed two wickets but conceded 106 runs. Charani became only the third bowler in women’s ODI history to concede more than 100 runs in a single innings.

India’s Chase Falters Early

Chasing a record target of 410, India required a fast start but lost opener Smriti Mandhana in the second over. Pratika Rawal (27 off 21) and Jemimah Rodrigues (42 off 29) attempted to rebuild with a 54-run stand. Rodrigues looked dangerous, striking nine boundaries, but fell attempting a sweep shot off Ashleigh Gardner, caught at short fine-leg.

The middle order failed to sustain the required run rate. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur made 25 before falling LBW to Alana King. Richa Ghosh (18) and Kashvee Gautam departed quickly, leaving India reeling.

Deepti Sharma (29) and Sneh Rana delayed the inevitable with a 63-run partnership for the eighth wicket. Rana, who battled hard for her 44 off 74 balls, was eventually dismissed as India folded for 224 in 45.1 overs.

Series Context and Points Table

This victory extends Australia’s dominance in the multi-format series. Having lost the preceding T20 series 1-2, Australia bounced back to take the ODI leg 3-0. Australia now leads the multi-format series 8-4 on points.

The teams will now travel to Perth for the historic pink-ball Test match. Under the series regulations, the Test match carries four points, giving India a mathematical chance to draw the series on points if they secure a victory.
