Afghan Spinner Allah Ghazanfar Condemns Kabul Airstrike, Seeks Indian Support

Afghanistan international bowler and Mumbai Indians recruit Allah Ghazanfar has issued a strong public statement following a deadly airstrike on a rehabilitation center in Kabul. The 18-year-old cricketer condemned the military action, highlighting the severe human toll and warning of further regional instability.

Casualties Reported at Kabul Medical Facility

The airstrike, which Afghan officials attribute to Pakistan, reportedly killed at least 400 people and injured 250 others. Afghanistan deputy government spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat confirmed the strike targeted a 2,000-bed drug rehabilitation hospital, destroying significant sections of the medical facility. The Pakistani government has officially denied involvement in the attack.

Speaking to CNN News18, Ghazanfar expressed outrage over the destruction of a facility serving vulnerable populations. ‘The people there don\’t have money for treatment,’ Ghazanfar stated. ‘And now, they\’ve targeted that place as well; they\’ve martyred those people. This is not acceptable to the people of Afghanistan.’

Geopolitical Tensions and Appeal to India

The escalating conflict between the neighboring nations prompted a direct warning from the young spinner. ‘Everyone knows Afghanistan\’s history,’ he said. ‘If that history repeats itself, it will be very bad for Pakistan.’

Ghazanfar also appealed to the international community, specifically requesting diplomatic intervention from India. He characterized India as a reliable ally capable of mediating the crisis. ‘India is our close friend. We want to engage with them, to talk about these issues, so that things like this don\’t happen,’ he noted, adding that the current global climate cannot sustain further conflict.

Allah Ghazanfar\’s Career Profile

Away from the geopolitical crisis, Ghazanfar is preparing for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Purchased by the Mumbai Indians at the recent mega auction for INR 4.80 Crore, the spinner will feature in the 2025 tournament, correcting earlier reports that erroneously stated he was signed for 2026. He previously spent time with the Kolkata Knight Riders during their 2024 championship campaign.

Recognized by the International Cricket Council as a rising talent in the limited-overs formats, Ghazanfar has rapidly built a solid foundation in international cricket.
